RAVENALA HOTEL BOUTIQUE

A quiet boutique hideaway near the beach and Broadway, arranged around a green courtyard and two pools that stay warm long after the sun drops behind the dunes. The whole hotel is built to slow you down: shaded seating in the garden, a bar within reach of the water, and rooms wide enough that a week here never starts to feel small.

The courtyard

Everything at Ravenala turns inward, toward the water and the garden

Rooms look down onto the pools rather than out onto the road, which is why the hotel stays quiet even when Broadway is busy a few streets away.

Two outdoor pools and a kids' pool

The courtyard holds two full outdoor pools plus a separate shallow pool for children, with loungers, beach chairs and umbrellas set out under the planting so there is always somewhere shaded to retreat to in the middle of the day.

Breakfast on the terrace, drinks by the water

A continental breakfast is laid out every morning beside the garden, and the pool bar keeps going through the afternoon and into the evening, which means you rarely have to leave the grounds unless you want to.

Walking distance to the beach and Broadway

Canoa Quebrada Beach sits below the red cliffs a few minutes from the gate, and the Broadway pedestrian street with its restaurants, bars and craft shops runs just above it, so most guests leave the car parked all week.

Free private parking and a 24-hour desk

On-site private parking is included for guests, which matters in a village where street space is scarce, and the front desk is staffed around the clock for late arrivals, room service and airport shuttle arrangements.

Suites and apartments

Three rooms, each with a balcony onto the garden or the water

Every room at Ravenala is air conditioned and quiet, with a private bathroom, a balcony over the gardens or the pools, a TV, a minibar and free WiFi. Choose the one that fits how you are travelling, then pick your dates on our booking page.

Deluxe King Suite at Ravenala Hotel Boutique

Deluxe King Suite

A wide, calm suite built around a king bed and a private balcony. Mornings here tend to start slowly: shutters open, coffee on the balcony, the garden still cool from the night. It is the room most couples ask for when they plan to stay more than a few nights.

The suite is built around a king bed with room to move around it, cooled by air conditioning that holds through the hottest part of the afternoon. The balcony faces the garden or the pool depending on which side of the courtyard you are given, and the private bathroom has a walk-in shower. TV, minibar and free WiFi come as standard, and the front desk is awake at any hour if you need something brought up.

The pool courtyard

Two pools, deep shade, and nowhere in particular to be

Two outdoor pools in the garden courtyard at Ravenala Hotel Boutique

The courtyard is the heart of the hotel and most of the day happens here. Two outdoor pools sit inside a lush garden, with a sun terrace above them and outdoor furniture tucked under the planting where the light stays soft all afternoon. Pool towels are provided at the desk, and there are enough loungers, beach chairs and umbrellas that nobody has to come down at dawn to claim a spot before breakfast.

Tropical garden and shaded outdoor seating at Ravenala Hotel Boutique

A shallow pool for children, a quiet corner for everyone else

Families get a separate kids' pool with a shallow end, set close enough to the main water that parents can swim laps without ever losing sight of anyone. Couples tend to drift toward the far corner of the garden instead, where the planting is thickest and the pool bar keeps cold drinks coming until the light goes orange over the dunes.

After sunset the terrace becomes the natural gathering point before dinner: the water is still warm, the bar stays open, and it is a two-minute walk back to your balcony if you would rather take the last drink upstairs.

The breakfast terrace

Mornings start slowly, under the trees

Breakfast at Ravenala is not a buffet hall. Tables are laid on the terrace beside the garden, and most guests linger over a second coffee while the day warms up and the pools come back into the sun. Nobody will rush you toward the beach, and nothing closes at a fixed hour just because the kitchen would prefer it.

Continental breakfast on the terrace

Set out each morning beside the garden: fresh pastries, cheese and cold cuts, sliced tropical fruit and juice pressed that morning, with coffee brought to the table rather than queued for. Tables are spaced far enough apart that a long breakfast never feels like a canteen sitting.

Cearense specialities from the market

A few local things you will not find at home usually appear alongside the familiar spread, depending on what came back from the market that morning. Ask whoever is serving what is worth trying, because the answer changes with the season and it is generally the best thing on the table.

Breakfast carried up to your room

If you would rather stay on your balcony with the garden below you, breakfast can be brought up instead of served downstairs. It suits late risers, couples who want a slow start, and families who would rather not organise everyone before nine in the morning.

Room service and the bar through the day

Room service runs through the day for anything you need between meals, and the bar stays open for something cold after the beach or a nightcap once you are back from Broadway. The front desk is staffed 24 hours, so a late request is never a problem.

Between the terrace, the pool bar and room service, you can eat well without leaving the grounds - though Broadway is a few minutes on foot when you want somebody else's kitchen for dinner.

Canoa walks

Everything worth seeing is within walking distance

Canoa Quebrada is small and made for wandering. From the hotel you can reach the beach, the restaurants and the local attractions on foot, which is why most of our guests leave the car parked behind the gate for the whole stay and only think about it again on the morning they check out.

  1. Canoa Quebrada Beach

Out of the gate and down toward the water: wide sand under the red cliffs, kite surfers working the wind all afternoon, and beach clubs where a chair and an umbrella will hold you comfortably from lunch until sunset. The walk down takes a few minutes and the way back up is the only real effort of the day.

  2. Broadway, the main street

The pedestrian spine of the village, a few minutes on foot from the hotel. Restaurants, small bars, craft shops and live music that gets going once the sun is down, with enough variety that a week of dinners never repeats itself. It stays lively late without ever reaching the hotel courtyard.

  3. Dragão do Mar Square

The gathering point at the top of the village and a good target for an evening walk, with room to sit, a slow drink and a fair amount of people-watching before you decide where dinner is happening. It is also the easiest place to orient yourself on a first evening in Canoa.

  4. Fishermen Square

Down at the working end of the beach, where the jangada sailing boats come in and the day's catch is unloaded in front of whoever happens to be standing there. Worth timing for late afternoon, when the light turns the cliffs deep red and the boats are all coming home at once.

Stay notes

The practical details worth reading before you book, written out properly rather than buried in a policy list.

Arrival and departure

Check-in opens from 2:00 PM and check-out runs between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM, which leaves time for a last swim before you load the car. Please tell us your expected arrival time in advance so somebody is ready for you, and bring photo ID together with a credit card for the desk when you get here.

Travelling with children

Children of all ages are welcome and the courtyard is set up for them, with a shallow kids' pool beside the main water. Children aged six and above are charged as adults. We do not keep cribs or extra beds, so families travelling with very young children usually take the Deluxe Apartment for its extra sleeping space.

Parking, transfers and the front desk

Free private parking sits on site behind the gate, and the front desk is staffed 24 hours a day for late flights, room service and questions about the village. An airport shuttle can be arranged for an extra charge if you send us your flight details before arrival.

House notes

Rooms are non-smoking, and pets are not allowed anywhere on the property. Beyond that the hotel keeps very few rules: come back sandy, eat breakfast late, and use the pools whenever the mood takes you.
